Hello my lovelies, Happy Sunday!
In this post I will be reviewing this month’s Glossybox,
which has been one of my favourites yet! The May 2015 box follows a
“Summer’s Calling!” theme, which brings a few beauty essentials for the hot months ahead. I
was pleased to see that the contents inside were a mixture of familiar and
reputable brands, with others that I hadn’t previously heard about and could
MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes
Dual Ended Eye Wand (Full size – £6.95):
MeMeMe is a brand that I was already familiar with prior to
this month’s box. The products are often of great quality, but with a relatively
low price tag. They are fantastic for those who want to keep up with the latest
beauty trends, but wish to stick to a modest budget (it’s particularly great
The double-ended eyeliner has a bright turquoise shade on
one side, and a dark navy shade on the other. With a dazzling metallic twist to
each colour, this eyeliner allows you to step into the latest trend for the
upcoming season. This eyeliner is also great for those who want to be more
adventurous and playful with their
makeup. A great place to start for tips and tricks would be to browse through
Youtube for some colourful summer inspired makeup tutorials.
Both shades of the eyeliner are extremely pigmented, as well
as creamy in texture. The eyeliner is smooth on application, which subsequently
allows for the product to be easily blended to create an effortless smokey eye.
You can build the intensity and depth of the colours as desired in order to
achieve a subtle eye, or a striking bold look.
Given the great consistency and formulation of the eyeliner,
I am extremely happy with this product and believe that it is comparable to
that of a higher-end brand! At £6.95 it is totally worth it, and I will be
having a look at the rest of the range of colours!
Etre Belle Aloe Vera
Ultra Moisturising Gel (Full Size – £15.93):
Etre Belle was a completely new brand to me, so at first I
was slightly sceptical of the quality of the product considering I had no
previous background knowledge of the brand. I was specially hesitant in trying
this gel on my face, as my skin is extremely sensitive and tends to react quite
often to new products.
The gel is super hydrating and moisturising, and it’s
perfect for those days where the skin may feel extra dehydrated or in need of
some extra attention. The gel also has a cooling function which is great in
relieving skin irritation or redness. What’s
more, the main ingredient in the formula, aloe-vera, is a great post-sun
soother, making this product a must have for the hot summer months.
I have tried this gel twice, and both times it has provided a
flawless base for makeup application. The moisturising formula has been
particularly great in tackling dry patches on my face; also, this product is
great in soothing pain, redness or irritation from eyebrow/ upper lip threading
In terms of price I personally feel that £15.93 is perhaps a
little steep for only 40ml. However, the great thing about this product is that
a little amount goes a long way. Also, if you are prone to skin sensitivity
like myself, I think this could be a great addition to your skincare routine.
Zerreau Towel Off
Shampoo Foam (Full Size – £7.95):
Again, Zerreau was an entirely new brand for me, but the
product description was so promising that I couldn’t wait to give it a try. The
“Towel Off Shampoo Foam” is essentially the next generation of the dry
shampoo; rather than having the traditional talc texture such as that offered
by the Batiste dry shampoo range, this product acts as a foam that gently lifts
the grease and dirt from the hair, and the
excess is removed by thoroughly towel drying the hair.
I have used this foam on only one occasion, and although I
did notice a slight improvement to the texture of my hair, there was still alot
of product build up on my roots. However, to be fair, that day I had opted for
a sleeked ponytail so I did have quite a significant amount of wax in my hair! For
this reason, I wouldn’t use the foam shampoo on a day where I have a heavy
amount of product in my hair; however, on days where I’m in a rush and my hair might
need a slight grease fix, this product will be a god send. Also, the shampoo
foam gets extra brownie points for its beautiful apple fragrance! (the
boyfriend loved it!)
I think this shampoo foam is a great travel essential particularly
for a festival, camping trip or perhaps a short weekend getaway where you may
not have enough space to pack your favourite hair products. However, in terms
of price, for a 70ml bottle I think it may be slightly expensive because if
you’re like me and have long hair, then you will need a good couple of pumps of
the foam which therefore means that the bottle would be finished in no time!
SASS Intimate Perfect
Skin Concentrate (Full Size – £12):
The SASS Perfect Skin concentrate promises to sooth freshly
waxed or shaved skin, and to reduce the speed of hair re-growth. The
salicylic acid and fruit enzymes in the formula also help to delicately exfoliate the
skin in order to prevent ingrown hairs. I’d say that this will be an essential
for the summer season, particularly in targeting pesky sensitive areas like the
I haven’t actually tried this product yet, so there isn’t much
that I can say for review purposes, but I can’t wait to give it a try! I will
dedicate a brief post in the future to share my experiences with this
Field Day Lipstick (Full Size – £2.99):
This month’s Glossybox came with a gorgeous pastel pink
lipstick in the shade “Tulip” by Collection Cosmetics new Field Day
range. This lipstick is creamy in consistency and smooth on application. It has
a beautiful matte finish which can be perfectly paired up with a bold smokey
eye, or even the dual-ended blue eyeliner! However, if you suffer from dry lips
I would suggest gently exfoliating them beforehand and applying a moisturising
balm as a base, as this lipstick can be quite drying and may highlight any
rough patches or broken skin.
At £2.99 this lipstick is an absolute steal! I am extremely
happy with the quality of this product and would recommend it to anyone. My
only criticism is that the packaging seems quite “cheap”, but then
again for the price I am in no position to complain.
What are your thoughts on this month’s Glossybox? Please
comment below, I would love to hear your opinions and whether you would
purchase any of the products mentioned above!
Lots of Love, Ana
