“With the infusion of seasonal- appropriate pieces, maxi-dresses are the perfect transitional piece”

As the temperature begins to drop, we wistfully pack away and say farewell to our Summer staples for yet another year. From the back of the closet we reach out for our comfy oversized knits and lose fitting coats, but who’s to say that we can’t recycle some of our beloved sundresses into the colder months? With just a few simple styling tricks and very clever layering, maxi dresses can be equally suited for Autumn/ Winter, and rocked all year-round.
With the infusion of seasonal- appropriate pieces, maxi-dresses are the perfect transitional piece. So, what’s a style savvy dresser to do? Read on and take notes!
– Bring your maxi dress back to life by layering on a cool and edgy leather jacket. Complete the look with a pair of ankle boots and a fedora hat – like I opted for in today’s look!
– Win yourself some extra style points by throwing an oversized jumper on top of a long flowy dress. A structured clutch bag, high-heel sandals and chunky bangles will bring the whole outfit together.
– For a chill-resistant combo, top the maxi dress with a lose fitting jacket or a boxy boyfriend blazer (with the sleeves rolled up for those not-quite-so – chilly days), and a pair of brogues for a comfy day to day alternative.
– Capitalise on a maxi dress’s versatility by layering it over a turtleneck jumper or a long-sleeve top – these are your secret weapons for a quick and easy look if you’re in a rush to get dressed, but want a head-turning, fabulous outfit.
If you’re suffering from separation anxiety and would like to extend the shelf life of your summer wardrobe, these are just some ideas to name a few!
