Hi loves, I hope you’re all well!
For today’s post I thought I’d share with you some of my all-time favourite, at home spa facial product picks. I think it’s important for us girlies to dedicate a couple of hours each week of pampering, not only to help us look and feel our best, but to also help alleviate stress after an arduous week of work or study. No matter how short my weekly routine may becomes due to time restraints, I always make sure to squeeze in some time for myself – that’s the golden rule.
Me time will typically consist of a relaxing bubble bath, a manicure, pedicure, a hair mask and wash, followed by a fresh blow-dry, and my favourite, a facial. I’ll go into more depth with this routine in future posts, but today I’ll be concentrating on some of my all-time favourite skincare product picks that never fail to make me feel as if I’ve just had a luxurious spa facial (but at home!). Each and every one of these products have worked absolute wonders to the overall look, feel and texture of my skin- I cannot recommend them enough!
1. StriVectinLabs 5 Minute Weekly Glycolic Peel
There was a time in my life where a good portion of my monthly salary would be spent on skincare products (and I mean hundreds of pounds each month!). Growing up with acne and pigmentation, investing in such treatments became practically an obsession of mine in an endeavour to treat my problematic skin. I think most people who have suffered (or are currently suffering) from this problem will understand how emotionally distressing it can be, and will have also probably tried a variety of different products in desperation for a permanent acne cure – honestly, it sucks. For my readers who are currently struggling with acne-prone skin just remember that patience is key; through trial and error, you will eventually find a skincare routine that will work for you.
From all of the different skincare products that I have used (high-street and luxurious brands), the Strivectin 5 minute peel has become one of my all-time favourites.
I purchased this product not only to help combat breakouts, but to also to lighten any pink/ red marks left over from old spots. If you suffer from pigmentation, it’s important to keep in mind that there isn’t a one hit wonder product in the market that will help get rid of marks overnight, but, with continuous use, you will see significant improvements in your complexion over time. So, although this peel didn’t miraculously improve my pigmentation after only one use, my skin did get brighter and brighter with each coming week.
The glycolic peel is a two-step weekly routine that takes no longer than 5 minutes, and provides a gentle resurfacing exfoliation that helps to perk up the overall condition of the skin. The first step is a detoxifying primer that helps to unblock pores and bring out any impurities from the skin. You start off by dispensing a generous amount of cream onto your hand, and then using your fingers (or a clean foundation brush if you prefer), you apply a uniform layer of cream all over a clean face and let the product sit for no longer than 1 minute.
The next step is to apply the AHA activator which is formulated by a powerful glycolic and alpha hydroxyl acid to help naturally exfoliate dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal. If my research serves me right, I believe this is one of the very few skincare products in the market with the highest concentration of glycolic acid, available to purchase online or in-store without a prescription required – I believe so anyway? I could be wrong!
You apply the clear gel directly on top of the previous layer of cream, and let it sit on the face for 3 to 5 minutes. You should feel a warming sensation and a faint tingle that becomes stronger as time progresses – nothing unbearable, I personally find the tingling feeling quite pleasant. I can comfortably have the gel on my face for the maximum recommended time of five minutes, but those who have sensitive skin will probably only be able to tolerate 3-4 minutes.
Whenever I use the glycolic peel, I try to make sure that I have the rest of the afternoon/evening at home as I’m often left with a slightly irritated red face (nothing makeup can’t cover, but I personally hate wearing foundation/ powder directly after a skin treatment).
Once the time is up, I gently clean my face with a damp towel and wash off any traces of the product with lukewarm water.
The end result is baby smooth skin, pores appear minimized and more refined, and by the next morning, the skin will still retain its amazing softness but the complexion should appear much brighter and radiant. With regular use of this product, you will notice a significant improvement in fading of pigmentation and also a reduction in outbreaks. I’m not showing any signs of ageing yet so I can’t really comment on its effect on fine lines and wrinkles, but I have come across many comments and public reviews of people who have experienced positive effects.
I absolutely recommend this product if you want to reduce outbreaks, even out your complexion and have a radiant glow.

2. Glam Glow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatement
This is one of the most highly raved products in the beauty community and despite its massive online profile, it wasn’t until I found GlamGlow at Boots that I actually decided to give in and purchase one of the masks. The GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate tub was teeny tiny in size (15g) with a hefty price tag of £16, which at first impressions seemed extortionate in my opinion. But alas, I was dying to give it a try because of all the wonderful reviews and promising BIG claims online, so I gave in… and boy, I was not disappointed.
The Glamglow mask, also known as the “facial in a jar” was, for many years, the secret to many Hollywood stars perfect camera-ready complexion, but is now available in some high-street shops and online. Is there a particular reason why I decided to go for Youthmud out of the range of masks available? No, not particularly. The main and only reason why I was drawn in to buy it was simply because of its notoriety online as I’d seen many beauty bloggers raving about it, so I was curious to find out what the hype was all about.
Again with a freshly clean face (or as a follow up after the glycolic peel), I use my fingers to evenly apply a thin layer of the mud mask all over my face. I let this sit for 10- 15 minutes and what amazes me the most with this mask is that you can see oily patches where all the gunk and impurities are being extracted from congested skin areas (mainly nose and cheeks) – super yucky I know, but I loooove that you can see the mask working its skin purifying magic directly in front of you.
I finish off the treatment by washing my face with lukewarm water, and the immediate after-effect is smooth, replenished, radiant skin with a new lease of life.
People have gone bonkers for Glamglow masks, and it’s very easy to see why. Yes, the muds are on the slightly pricier side but when they deliver in promise, it’s easy to justify the cost. I now can’t wait to get my hands on the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment mask! *adds to Christmas wish-list*

3. Elemis Pro- Collagen Marine Oil
If you have been keeping up with my blog you will know that I recently visited the Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa, and was very kindly gifted a generously filled bag of Elemis skincare product samples to test out at home, one of which, the Elemis Pro- Collagen Marine Oil.
According to the Elemis’s official website, “this replenishing facial oil has been formulated with a trio of seaweeds – Padina Pavonica, Golden Seaweed and Roaring Water Kelp – to deliver maximum hydration, whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. White Poppy seed oil plumps the skin with moisture and leaves the complexion looking revitalised and radiant.”
This is usually the final step to my facial routine as I love to treat my skin to a super hydrating serum, especially after two such intensive detoxifying treatments.
The serum feels oily to the touch but is surprisingly very easily absorbable. It sinks right into the skin almost immediately due to its lightweight formula, and moisturises without feeling heavy or leaving any traces of oily residue. The skin is left feeling instantly nourished, hydrated and silky smooth to the touch. Love it!
